True to the Irish storytelling tradition, the 24-year history of the Beef 'O' Brady's franchise is proudly told on the menu of its Brimfield, Ohio, location . . .
In 1985, in Brandon, Florida, Jim Mellody dreamed up the idea of a neighborhood pub where friends and families could gather to enjoy good food and sports in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere.
Together, Jim and his wife, Jeanette, embellished the Brady family name to arrive at the unlikely, yet likeable, name Beef 'O' Brady's. Regulars affectionately nicknamed it "Beef's."
Jim's love of sports inspired him to offer as many games as possible to his customers, so he invested in TVs and satellite dishes. Jim covered the walls with authentic sports memorabilia he had collected and graced his menu with an Irish Blessing. . . He dressed his tender chicken wings with a tasty sauce he fashioned from his own recipe, tirelessly tinkering in the kitchen until he got it just right.
Today there are Beef 'O' Brady's popping up all over the country. Call it the "Luck of the Irish" with one good dream and a lot of hard work thrown in.
The local version in Brimfield, just minutes from downtown Akron, is a shining example of Beef 'O' Brady's overall vision. Opened July 7, 2008, the restaurant is not just another eatery in the pack. Owners Bob, Dave and Andy have worked hard to create a real relationship with the community. Brimfield's Beef 'O' Brady's is a proud sponsor and supporter of the local youth sports scene, evidenced by the many jerseys and thank-you plaques hanging on the walls.
The décor is similar to what many of us envision for a great, family-friendly rec room in our homes. Thanks to the 25 big-screen HD TVs, there is simply not a bad seat in the house for any game. With March Madness just around the corner, you simply won't find a better place to watch every game!
Brimfield's Beef 'O' Brady's has also distinguished itself as the 2008 Brimfield Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year by being a great neighbor to everyone in the community. It's time for all of us neighbors to find out what all the buzz is about!
As well as being a great place for the family to enjoy a sporting event, Beef 'O' Brady's is a great place for a great meal that won't break the bank. With 95 percent of more than 70 menu items priced under $10, Beef 'O' Brady's is one of the most affordable restaurants in our area.
The menu items our Beacon Journal team got to sample were all terrific, and finding favorites was quite difficult. A great part of the credit for this consistently good food has to go to the two chefs on staff, Beth and Joe. Professionally trained chefs are not the norm in this type of restaurant, and these two provide that extra flavor that elevates customers' expectations and then exceeds them, all the while maintaining the incredible value. The chefs also try out new menu items every quarter and keep the most popular, expanding an already large menu of great food.
Beef's also offers a great place to have any gathering, from a company meeting to a birthday party. The private room holds up to 34 guests who can enjoy incredible food and multimedia presentation capabilities on two big screen TVs.
Fund-raising is a big part of what Beef 'O' Brady's is about. The Brimfield location's Spirit Nights are a good example. Participating organizations or groups simply create a flier that they hand out to their supporters, telling them to go eat at Beef 'O' Brady's on a particular night. Beef 'O' Brady's then donates 20 percent of the food sales from patrons who present the flier on Sprit Night back to the participating group. It's a fun and great way to raise a lot of money for your cause!
